So excited for tomorrow’s season finale!! Here are Tenzin and Pema’s little darlings—apparently known as cloudbabies on Tumblr.
I drew all of them a bit older, frolicking in a what is hopefully an Equalist-free future! I tried to channel a bit of Gurihiru to no avail, but I am still really, really happy with how this turned out…Especially the girls’ faces!
Anyone else notice that on the show, the four kids seem to have four different eyecolors: Brown, grey, light grey-blue and green? PEMA WHAT ARE YOU DOING??
I predict that this is how the kids will turn out—SKIP if you’re not interested:
JINORA: Jinora will continue to be a bookworm. She grows to be very wise for her age and monitors her siblings even more calmly than her mother does. However, being a bookworm doesn’t mean Jinora is shy—her experience as an eldest sister (and her knack for history) makes her a wise and outgoing leader, a perfect candidate to take up her father’s role in the future.
IKKI: I think Ikki will become the prettier of the sisters, but she’ll still be the more spastic of the two. Sometimes she worries that she’ll never escape her big sister’s shadow, or that her airbending skills are eclipsed by Meelo’s…but Ikki mever wallows in her worries. She makes up for all her secret insecurities with her enduring spirit and kindness.
MEELO: Um…how can I put this? I don’t think Meelo will outgrow his lumpy skull and frightening leer (I made him look absolutely psycho hahaha). But I DO think he will become the most skilled, powerful and inventive among his siblings in terms of his airbending talent. He’d also really, really good with children! And probably a great teacher—“BE THE LEAF”
ROHAN: I can’t say too much about Rohan for now. But I think that being the youngest of four very talented, very interesting kids will make for a very interesting child. Maybe Rohan goes through a phase later in adolescence when he feels like he’s being forced to be an airbender monk when he just wants to be a normal kid—eat meat, play instead of train or mediditate, etc. But eventually he finds his way and rises above his temptations to accept who he is and the responsibilites that come with that.

Lin vs Pema by ~liminowl
Younger Lin and Pema! Tenzin must have been pretty dashing for two pretty ladies to fight over him, haha. Here I imagine Lin is making some snarky remarks but Pema is biting her tongue because she knows better than to get in a slapfest with Toph Bei Fong’s daughter…I have my own theories about the whole drama, though. I really dislike Pema and resent her snatching Tenzin up. But I don’t believe that people are COMPLETELY good or bad. I think Lin and Tenzin became friends because both grew up with a lot of pressures and expectations (both being the kids of heroes with many responsibilities on their shoulders)—but as a couple, each had too much stress to deal with individually and therefore couldn’t support each other very well. Pema probably became the kind, gentle listener Tenzin needed to support him (kinda like Mai to Zuko??). And Lin is so perfect and amazing, but I wonder if she ever messed up. Like maybe she pulled a ‘Korra’ and kissed Tenzin when he was ‘with’ Pema—and then felt guilty and decided to devote the rest of her life to her work?? I’m rambling now…
