Fio and Ursula both look alike but they’re my favorite Miyazaki girls. They’re ignored so often but how cool are they: Fio’s a teenager and aircraft engineering prodigy, NBD. Ursula lives in a cabin in the woods and paints…I actually see a lot of myself in her! *Gifs aren’t mine—look at the source

I just watched all of FLCL on Netflix and it’s honestly one of the weirdest things I’ve ever watched. But it’s so cool to see how strong of an influence it had on the Avatar series! I also really liked how they drew the guitars, especially the Rickenbacker (which may figure into something I will be posting soon…)

No really, the film looks beautiful, but come on now, Pixar!  That dead horse was good and beaten by the time Titanic came out, no need to dredge up anachronistic narrative tropes.

A lot of aspects of this movie are tired and cliche, besides this. This movie could have been so rich, fantastic and new but even after the new trailer, the movie still feels like it’s been 1000x times before. But whatever, it’s Pixar, they’ll automatically win the Oscar and make tons of money so who cares, pff
But yeah I agree with Claire—God forbid a woman be fashionable or remotely socially normal as well as brave, daring, and kickass. Because, you know, femininity and awesomeness are mutually exclusive.

The producers of the Prince of Egypt were faced with the challenge of needing to create multiple language tracks so that the film could be viewed all over the world. Dreamworks International Production located and recorded talent from all over the globe. This video demonstrates the seamless quality the entire Dreamworks crew was able to achieve.

Just watched this again for the first time in years…came so close to crying. Such a great movie, with even greater gravity than any Disney movie, in my opinion. And this just makes it 100x better

Dominican Republic on Flickr.

Got back late last night from DR. I’m reblogging because I still need to pull my photos from my camera. Most of the trip was spent on the beach either sleeping or reading the Milennium books.
Things I learned: (1) They don’t get a lot of Asian people in DR, which explains some of the special…treatment my sister and I received, (2) The Spanish word for “sausage” is salchicha, (3) Suckling pig is one of the most delicious things ever, (4) Pina coladas and caiparinhas are tasty and habit-forming, (5) European ladies sure do like to tan topless…I saw a lot of middle-aged lady boobies this week
Things I learned when I got back onto Tumblr (I had already heard of the unfortunate events in France, Syria and Florida on the trip): (1) Glen Keane is leaving Disney…not sure if he is moving to Dreamworks or not, but I really can’t see the guy who gave us Aladdin, Ariel, Tarzan, Beast and Pocahontas working for some other studio. But if he is, I’ll still be happy to see his work. (2) Korra episodes posted! They’ve been leaked too many times but I’ve been a good fan. I watched them today and was so sad at how obviously Korra is going to be romantically paired. But the animation and music are so pretty…Also Bolin ftw

This rant is perfect. I’m not angry that she said she didn’t like Fantasia. The part that got me was when she called it “silly little cartoons”.

Thank you! And I LOVE THAT GIF
