Bryan Konietszko and Dante Basco arriving to Tumblr, as well as the new Korra clip/trailer thing and Korra Nation all up on my dash—all have inspired some Avatar ladies.
ATLA will always be one of my (and my dad’s!) favorite cartoons. I’ll never forget that it was drawing cruddy ATLA fanart in high school that really got me interested in digital art and the online world of art. (I was so hilariously serious about it, I even theorized on Deviantart that firebenders could control metal by conduction and air by convection LOL LOL LOL but for real, it happened in the show, remember Sozin and that poison volcano gas stuff)
Moving on, before all my self-respect goes away…
Korra’s going to be awesome but Toph and Suki will always be my favorite ladies. Toph because she’s like a blind HONEY BADGER and Suki because she’s no waterbender or firebender, she is a KUNG FU-BENDER. HA HA I’M FUNNY. LOOK, LOOK, I WROTE “REMATCH!” GET IT? DO YOU GET IT???????
Sorry, but I’ve been sleep-deprived for the past week and my brain is suffering
Sooo I saw the last two episodes of Avatar a few nights ago (for the first time in a couple of years), and I was reminded of how they are so MIND-BLOWINGLY AMAZING. The animation, the colors (epic brother-sister Agni Kai, anyone?), the kickass old dudes, the new score, even the dramatic slight blur over everything—but my favorite scenes by far are the AZULA IS FREAKING NUTS scenes.
I’m not good at fanart, but I had to try my hand at crazy-Azula, and I don’t think it turned out that badly. Arguing Sokka and Suki are here, too—they’re my favorite couple in the whole series.
Oh and Katniss Everdeen. The Hunger Games was good. I liked it. Catching Fire? Not so much…The original idea of The Hunger Games is so intricate and creative, but I am beginning to feel some cracks in the Collins’s world-building foundation as well as some holes in the plot. Also, Katniss’s narration grows more and more self-pitying (I understand her life sucks in many ways but she didn’t complain nearly as much or as often in the first book, where she focused more on kicking ass than whining about her self-sacrifice) on each page.
It is also really sad when I read a book and find it laden with clumsy syntax and poor grammar, because that tells me two things- (1) The author got sloppy/rushed and (2) I am an uppity pretentious jerk
